Wood Strip

Long planks, random offsets. The wood-floor look in tile.

When to use

Long rectangular tiles installed in rows with randomized stagger between tiles, so seams never line up across more than two rows. Mimics how real hardwood is laid and avoids the H-pattern that long planks create with a simple half-offset. The default for wood-look porcelain.

Recommended tile sizes

Long plank tile — 6"×24", 8"×36", 9"×48", or larger. The longer the plank, the more convincingly it reads as wood. Mix tile from multiple boxes to randomize color variation.

Typical waste

Budget around 15% extra tile when ordering. The planner uses this as the default when you compute boxes-needed — override per project if your installer is more or less efficient.
